One thing that you mentioned almost as an aside does interest me, though. The question of how we would know if we were the crazy ones. There's some old quote, perhaps from C.S. Lewis about how sin is boring and in the end it makes everyone the same. Whereas every saint is a saint in a new and a different way. If you are a crazy person and so am I, I suspect that the failure modes are completely different in each of our two cases. Despite this, I understand Or at least think I understand all of your arguments about Doom. Everyone on the opposing side, however, appears boringly the same in being fearfully addicted to wishful thinking.
